If you spend very much time in gun shops, at gun shows, or at online gun auctions, you soon discover that there are some really bizarre guns out there. Some of them have peculiar mechanisms, some of them have unusual designs, and some of them are just plain kooky for a variety of reasons.

Here are some of the most unusual guns I have run across during my time as a weapons collector. I will continue to add to this listing as I stumble upon other strange firearms. Please keep in mind that this list is subjective—a gun that I find fascinatingly strange might be unimpressive to someone else. Similarly, there may be a gun out there that you think is wacky that I have missed. Feel free to email me with suggestions and photos to include here.

Now, onto the guns. The one pictured above is a Smith & Wesson Model 10 with a billy-club extension. The unusual design was patented in 1919 and was intended for law enforcement. The idea was that a police officer could use the baton end as a billy-club and immediately switch to using it as a gun, if necessary. The club actually has a bore running through it so that the gun can be fired while it is still attached. Because of the impracticality of the design, however, this gun never saw much success.
