Here are some of the most unusual guns I have run across during my time as a weapons collector. I will continue to add to this listing as I stumble upon other strange firearms. Please keep in mind that this list is subjective—a gun that I find fascinatingly strange might be unimpressive to someone else. Similarly, there may be a gun out there that you think is wacky that I have missed. Feel free to email me with suggestions and photos to include here.
Now, onto the guns. The one pictured above is a Smith & Wesson Model 10 with a billy-club extension. The unusual design was patented in 1919 and was intended for law enforcement. The idea was that a police officer could use the baton end as a billy-club and immediately switch to using it as a gun, if necessary. The club actually has a bore running through it so that the gun can be fired while it is still attached. Because of the impracticality of the design, however, this gun never saw much success.
